Update - Through Game 8

Apologies for the lack of updates as the season has progressed.

Since our last visit, the squad has struggled mightily and now sits at 0-6-2 with only 2 games remaining in the Fall season. A quick recap:

  • A tough 4-1 loss at Dover-Sherborn featuring fill-in keeper Glen P. making some terrific saves - and breaking his shoulder in the process.
  • Rematch from the opening week vs. Needham. Sudbury only had 2 subs available but despite the numbers advantage, Needham led only 1-0 at the half and Sudbury was playing well. Needham's legs and skills were too much in the second half and a former Sudbury player put the icing on the cake with 2 goals to give the visitors a 5-0 victory.
  • Visit to Medfield. Sudbury sits one point behind the boys from Medfield and was hoping for a victory to leap them in the standings. The team took a 1-0 lead early in the match as Chris M. found the back of the net, but Medfied knotted the game early in the second half and the teams played to a draw for the second time this season.
  • Home against Natick - Sudbury didn't play well to start the match and quickly found themselves down 2-0 at halftime to the talented first place team from Natick. Final score ended up 6-0 and Sudbury is in a winning, and scoring funk over the second half of the season.
Next up: @ Duxbury - the boys in yellow look to avenge a tough home loss and make some movement in the standings to avoid relegation. The season closes on 11/8 with a home game against Dover and Sudbury is hoping that they can go into that game on a high note with a win against a tough Duxbury team in an early morning game.
